What book changed your life?
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. It was the first classic that I wasn’t made to read in school. While it took a moment to get used to the writing of classic novel, it quickly became this rich tapestry to storytelling and writing melded together to create one of the most moving stories I’ve ever read. I was engulfed and I mourned the completion of that book.
Who is(are) your favorite author(s)?
Matt Haig, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Anthony Horowitz, Louise Penny
What is your favorite drink or treat from Auburn Oil Co.?
I’ve discovered Blackberry syrup at Auburn Oil. So, if I’m hot, I love a blackberry lemonade. If I’m cold, I covet a blackberry hot chocolate!
What are a few of your favorite things?
Oh goodness. In general: My family, cooking, photography, good design, and reading (of course). In the store: my coworkers, the bright, open space with colors and patterns only bookshelves can create, and the view of the Magnolia through the big window.
What are some subjects you are especially interested in or knowledgeable about?
Graphic Design, Photography, Instructional Design, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all things Harry Potter, and books!
What would you feed your favorite character?

I have to figure out who my favorite character is! I love quite a few! Personally, Ron Weasley is a favorite and was really done a disservice by Warner Bros. I think, though, if I had to choose a favorite character, it would Amelia Peabody of the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. Amelia was a spinster turned Victorian Egyptologist, turned part of a dynamic mystery solving husband and wife team. She loves crawling around a manky old tomb as much as fine dining at the Winter Palace. I would introduce her to Southern Brunch with a trip to Acre for some Pimento and Cheese as well as Fried Chicken with French Toast. I’d let her wear pants and she would be thrilled 🙂

Staff Picks

One of the many perks of being a bookseller is getting to contribute to the “Staff Picks” section. Each bookseller gets to pick a handful of titles that they love and want to carry in-store. So if you’re looking for books that come highly recommended, books that someone on staff really loves, the Staff Pick section is entirely that. As a bonus, that selection changes frequently to reflect our current staff and reading. Come check us out in store or search Staff Reviews by Bookseller!

Staff Reviews

If you’ve seen our shelves, you know that we put handwritten reviews from staff by many, many books. (It’s almost like we like to read or something.) These help our favorites to stand out from the crowd as you browse. We’re excited to also be able to offer those reviews online! Browse by genre, alphabetically, by author, even by bookseller, and find your next read now.
